Workshops

Joke Raes has been offering inspiring workshops for years, catering to children, young people, and adults.
Her sessions are enriching for everyone, regardless of age or experience, combining a wide range of techniques and themes. Whether for small groups or larger events, on location or in her studio, Joke creates dynamic and stimulating experiences that center on creativity and well-being.
One example of a workshop:
Unveiled Faces: A Creative Exploration of Identity and Expressive Mask Portraits. This workshop delves into the dual relationship between masks and identity—concealment and revelation. Participants craft unique masks that express their personal identities. Throughout this creative journey, they learn to work with clay and other materials, explore construction techniques, and use symbolic colors. Inspiration comes from brainstorming sessions, personal emotions and experiences, and artworks by James Ensor, Picasso, and Joke’s own Mask x series.
Another example: A recent workshop at CC Destelheide focused on the theme of human rights and equality. Young people from various countries collaborated to create visual artworks that reflected this theme. Through authentic expression and imagination, they produced powerful, participatory works of art that fostered connection and understanding.
Joke also offers workshops and training sessions for companies, where participants work with clay or recycled materials, combining sustainability with creativity. By transforming seemingly insignificant materials into meaningful creations, participants discover how to develop their own unique visual language while fostering a mindful approach to their environment.

Workshops and Creative Sessions
For years, Joke Raes has been offering inspiring workshops for children, young people, and adults. Her sessions enrich participants of all ages and experience levels, combining a wide range of techniques and themes. Whether it’s a small group, a large event, on-site, or in her studio, Joke creates a dynamic and stimulating environment where creativity and well-being take center stage.
Example of a workshop
For example, during the 5-V exhibition, which Joke curated, over 350 children and young people participated in workshops using air-dry clay. Each session focused on the question: what do I want to express through my creation? This process resulted in an intriguing 'Kids Wonderwall,' showcasing the participants’ unique expressions.
Another example is the workshop Unveiled Faces: A Creative Exploration of Identity and Expressive Mask Portraits. Participants create unique masks that express their personal identity. During this creative journey, they learn to work with clay and other materials, build techniques, and use symbolic colors. Inspiration comes from brainstorming sessions, personal moods and experiences, and artworks by James Ensor, Picasso, and Joke’s own Mask x series.
Joke also runs workshops on themes such as human rights, equality, and sustainability. In schools or companies, participants work with clay or recycled materials, discovering how to develop their own visual language while being conscious of their environment.
